"I've recently come into some loss- and as you might know-healing is sometimes not linear. Today this song freed my heart to grieve what I don't understand. Thank you for creating something so powerful that I could not turn away from my own reality." - a message received through Bandcamp.
Gabriel Munro is a composer and songwriter whose work has trespassed into numerous genres, including folk, punk, baroque, and rock. His story-driven songs have been called "...rich with ideas and effective, haunting harmonies..." (Steel City Girl Reviews) and have appeared on stage, radio, podcasts, and film.
In 2023, his music was developed into The Next Empty Day, a song cycle performed at Hamilton Fringe Festival, and called "much more than just a concert. The songs tell an interconnected story from start to finish, and they’re woven together to an extent that few other albums can match." (Arthur Bullock, Beyond James)
Gabriel is currently producing two new albums: Guillotine Vogue, a collection of chamber music infused pop rock, and the garage-rock Dark Sky Sanctuary. His most recent release is Reach, which unites original Baroque compositions with playful synth instrumentation.
Gabriel frequently collaborates with his sister, vocalist and violinist Grace Munro.
